Fern tufted.
Leaves persistent, with a very short and scaly petiole, thick, tough, linear to narrow and oblong, pinnate, with 9 to 12 pairs of semicircular lobes on both sides of the midrib. These lobes are glabrous on the upper surface and are entirely covered in silvery white scales then reddish on the lower surface.
Sporangia in narrow groups, lengthened, without a protective membrane, hidden under the scales, laid out irregularly, growing from May to October.
For the dry periods, the fronds are rolled up towards the centre of the tuft, the scaly lower faces pointed towards outside in order to avoid desiccation.
