Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, à tiges érigées, non ramifiées, glabres.

Feuilles alternes, divisées pennatiséquées, à segments linéaires étroits, vert blanchâtre, glabres, épineux, raides, coriaces, à pétiole ailé à la base. Pas de feuilles basales. Feuilles caulinaires de 5 à 12 cm de long, à rachis de 5 à 10 mm de large.

Fleurs à symétrie radiaire, blanc verdâtre ou jaune verdâtre, de 1 à 2,5 mm de diamètre, réunies en denses ombelles compactes, formant un dôme de 10 à 20 mm de large entouré de 4 à 7 bractées linéaires, de 20 à 50 mm de long, avec 1 à 4 paires d’épines latérales. 2 styles et 2 stigmates. Ovaire infère.

Fruits, petits akènes.

Leaves alternate, dissected pinnatisect, with linear, narrow, whitish green, glabrous, spiny, stiff, tough segments, with a petiole winged at the base. No basal leaves. Stem-leaves from 5 to 12 cm long, with a midrib from 5 to 10 mm across.

Flowers radially symmetrical, greenish white or greenish yellow, from 1 to 2.5 mm in diameter, joined together in dense compact umbels, forming a dome from 10 to 20 mm across surrounded by 4 to 7 linear bracts, from 20 to 50 mm long, with 1 to 4 pairs of lateral thorns. 2 styles and 2 stigmas. Ovary inferior.

Fruits, small achenes.

[ < glomero, -as, -are (verbe) = mettre en pelote, grouper en tête

arrondie ] = en forme de tête arrondie, en référence à la forme

de l’inflorescence.
