Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, à tige érigée, glabre, cylindrique, de 3 à 4 mm de diamètre.
Feuilles à la base et alternes, simples, linéaires à lancéolées, entières, glabres, sessiles, de 5 à 8 cm de long, de 12 à 20 mm de large. 1 bractée verte beaucoup plus longue que l’ovaire.
Fleurs à symétrie bilatérale, horizontales à pendantes, de 5 à 8 mm de long, réunies par 4 à 6 en épi lâche. Sépales rose vif à rose pâle, veinés de vert, dirigés vers l’arrière. Pétales latéraux rose vil à rose pâle, à taches verdâtres. Labelle trilobé, brun, de 8 à 10 mm de long, de ± 7 mm de large, à lobes latéraux velus, à lobe central finement velu et recourbé vers le bas, avec un appendice jaune assez grand. Macule glabre, brune bordée de jaune. Ovaire infère.

Plant herbaceous, hermaphrodite. Stems erect, glabrous, cylindrical, from 3 to 4 mm in diameter.
Leaves at the base and alternate, simple, linear to lanceolate, entire, glabrous, sessile, from 5 to 8 cm long, from 12 to 20 mm across. 1 green bract much longer than the ovary.
Flowers bilaterally symmetrical, horizontal to hanging, from 5 to 8 mm long, joined together by 4 to 6 in loose spike. Sepals bright pink to pale pink, veined of green, directed backwards. Lateral petals bright pink to pale pink, with greenish spots. Labellum trilobate, brown, from 8 to 10 mm long, approximately 7 mm across, with very hairy lateral lobes, with central lobe finely hairy and curved to the bottom, with a rather large yellow appendix. Macula glabrous, brown broadside of yellow. Ovary inferior.

Étymologie / Etymology :
Ophrys : emprunt du latin ophrys, -yos (nom) = ophrys, nom donné à
plusieurs plantes par Pline, naturaliste latin mort en 79 apr. J.-C.,
forme latinisée du grec ancien ὀφρύς, -ύος (nom) = le sourcil,
en référence à la pilosité du labelle, en particulier autour des bords.
Dodekanensis : adjectif créé par les botanistes [ < Δωδεκάνησα, -ης (nom)
= le Dodécanèse ] = qui pousse dans les îles du Dodécanèse.
Ophrys : borrowed from Latin ophrys, -yos (noun) = bee orchid, name
given to several plants by Plinius, Latin naturalist died in 79 AD,
Latinized form of the Classical Greek ὀφρύς, -ύος (noun) = eyebrow,
referring to the hairiness of the labellum, particularly around margins.
Dodekanensis : adjective created by botanists [ < Δωδεκάνησα, -ης (noun)
= the Dodecanese ] = which grows in the Dodecanese Islands.
