Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, à tige érigée, simple, cylindrique, glabre.

Feuilles à la base et alternes, simples, lancéolées, glabres, entières, vertes, de 6 à 7 cm de long, de 13 à 18 mm de large, la caulinaire plus petite et engainante. Bractées un peu plus longues que l’ovaire.

Fleurs à symétrie bilatérale, longues d’environ 20 mm, réunies par 3 à 7 en épi de 6 à 10 cm de long. Sépales ovales à lancéolés, blancs, roses ou lilas foncé, étalés, de 10 à 12 mm de long et de 4 à 6 mm de large, le supérieur rabattu vers l’arrière. Pétales velus, rose pâle, triangulaires, étalés à dressés, de 2 à 3 mm de long, égalant environ le quart des sépales. Labelle très convexe, velu, brun rougeâtre à pourpre noirâtre, pendant ou subhorizontal, de 7 à 9 mm de long et de 8 à 11 mm de large, à bord étroit, jaune et glabre, trilobé, à lobes latéraux courts, de 1,5 à 2 mm de long, à lobe central terminé par un appendice jaune verdâtre de 1 à 2,5 mm de long. Macule souvent en forme de X ou de H, brune à bleue, bordée de blanc crème, couvrant environ la moitié du labelle. Ovaire infère.

Sepals ovate to lanceolate, white, pink or dark lilac, spread out, from 10 to 12 mm long and from 4 to 6 mm across, the superior one folded back backwards. Petals very hairy, pale pink, triangular, spread out to erect, from 2 to 3 mm long, approximately equalling quarter of the sepals. Labellum very convex, very hairy, reddish brown to blackish purple, hanging or subhorizontal, from 7 to 9 mm long and from 8 to 11 mm across, with narrow edge yellow and glabrous, three-lobed, with lateral lobes short, from 1.5 to 2 mm long, with central lobe finished by a greenish yellow appendix from 1 to 2.5 mm long. Macula often in the shape of X or of H, brown to blue, fringed with cream-coloured white, covering approximately half of the labellum. Ovary inferior.
