Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, vivace, parfois annuelle, à peine ligneuse à la base, à tiges érigées, striées, ramifiées, glabres.

Feuilles alternes, divisées pennatiséquées, sessiles, entières, glabres, à 5 à 15 paires de lobes, à bords ondulés.

Fleurs à symétrie radiaire, blanches, de 7 à 10 mm de diamètre, réunies en grappes de 5 à 10 cm de long. Corolle à 5 ou 6 pétales libres, trilobés sur le tiers supérieur. Calice à 5 sépales libres, verts. 10 à 12 étamines réunies par leur base, à filet blanc et anthère jaune pâle. 4 styles et 4 stigmates blancs. Ovaire supère.

Fruits, capsules étalées, glabres, vert brun, de 8 à 15 mm de long, à 4 dents courtes.

Plant herbaceous, hermaphrodite, perennial, sometimes annual, scarcely woody at the base. Stems erect, striated, branched, glabrous.

Leaves alternate, dissected pinnatisect, stalkless, entire, glabrous, with 5 to 15 pairs of lobes, with wavy edges.

Flowers radially symmetrical, white, from 7 to 10 mm in diameter, joined together in racemes from 5 to 10 cm long. Corolla with 5 or 6 free petals, three-lobed on the upper third. Calyx with 5 free, green sepals. 10 to 12 stamens joined together by their base, with a white filament and a pale yellow anther. 4 styles and 4 stigmas. Ovary superior.

Fruits, spread out, glabrous, brown green capsules, from 8 to 15 mm long, with 4 short teeth.

Reseda : borrowed from Latin reseda, -ae (noun)

[ < resedo, -as, -are (verb) = to soothe, to heal ] = mignonette, name

given to the plant by Plinius, Latin naturalist died in 79 AD, referring to

its medicinal properties.
