Plante herbacée, hermaphrodite, à tiges érigées, ramifiées, poilues au sommet, glabres à la base, cylindriques, de 1 mm de diamètre.

Feuilles alternes, composées trifoliées, à folioles poilues, de 8 à 15 mm de long et de 4 à 10 mm de large, dentées, à foliole terminale nettement pétiolulée, à folioles latérales courtement pétiolulées. Stipules vertes, entières.

Fleurs à symétrie bilatérale, jaunes, de 8 mm de long environ, réunies en têtes terminales de 10 à 15 mm de diamètre. Corolle papilionacée, beaucoup plus longue que le calice, à étendard un peu frangé et un peu ondulé, devenant jaune pâle à brunâtre à la fructification. Calice couvert de poils, à tube jaunâtre et à dents vertes. 9 étamines soudées entre elles et 1 libre. Ovaire supère.

Calyx covered in hairs, with yellow tube and with green teeth. 9 stamens fused with each other and 1 free. Ovary superior.

(1810-1885), explorateur et mathématicien suisse, fondateur de

l'Herbier Boissier qui sera donné en 1943 aux Conservatoire et Jardin

botaniques de la Ville de Genève.

Trifolium : borrowed from Latin trifolium, -i (noun) [ < tres (adj) = three

+ folium, -i (noun) = leaf ] = clover, name given to the plant by Plinius,

Latin naturalist died in 79 AD, referring to the leaves with three

characteristic leaflets.

Boissieri : name given in honour of Pierre Edmond Boissier (1810-1885),

Swiss explorer and mathematician, founder of the Boissier Herbarium,

which would be donated in 1943 to the Geneva Conservatory and

Botanical Garden.
